Analysis of media issues, politics and current events.
Former Poynter blogger Jim Romenesko produced an infographic to show if, based on positive or negative coverage, the media is biased towards liberals. This charge definitely needs to be sifted through to confirm its notions that the GOP are quoted 44% in the media more the Democrats. And Mitt Romney’s coverage has been less negative than President Obama’s coverage.
That last part raises eyebrows for me. That might have been the case a few months ago. But it seems that now Mitt Romney is being pummeled by most of the “mainstream media” press. The only change is that Fox News, once Mitt was established as the presumptive nominees has been lighter on him than in the Republican debate season. If not admiring him or praising him directly, running ideological shotgun for his political arguments.
Like I say in my book “Does This News Make Me Look Fat?” Liberal and Conservative are constructs that are distractions to understanding media bias than helpful filters. Look and see what you think.
