MLK.
On Martin Luther King Day, I celebrate a man who fought and defended freedom. Without the use of violence and weapons. Choosing to wield the power of the 1st Amendment to attack a government and social enforced policy over choosing the 2nd Amendment.
A view at odds the with the belief of other contemporaries who saw guns as more expedient and that respect was something that needed to be taken-by any means necessary. Not to mention those who held arms to enforce immoral acts against their fellow citizens and defend inequality and the status quo over freedom and right. Those who chose the latter now are cowardly hiding in the shadows of history. On this day, Martin Luther King stands in history’s spotlight.
In this case, MLK fought with the bullet institutions and governments often fear the most. Ideas. Because they, in turn, the weaponize people to fight for change. I take the day off. I just don’t take the day for granted.
