It’s a good time to reflect on why, Jerry Lewis, a man who earned billions for muscular dystrophy research was, last Labor Day, unceremoniously shoved out of the MDA Telethon. An organization he started. Last year, last Labor Day with little warning, Lewis just wasn’t there. Just an ubiquitous RoboHost 3000 with no real reason for the sudden change given.

Jerry Lewis vanished from an organization and cause that he put his blood, sweat and time into for over four decades. Not saying that it might be time for him to move on. Many people who do great things become deaf to the sound of their own wrap-it-up music at the end of their careers. But for Jerry Lewis,there was no spoken send off or ceremonial montage his last Labor Day MDA Telethon he was present or during telethon the year he vanished.

Jerry Lewis worked to give the kids so much. He deserved a send out worthy his talent and his accomplishments. In short, Jerry and many of us gave to Jerry’s kids. Let’s take a moment this Labor Day to give thanks to Jerry, too.
