THE GOLD

Viral Emails that claim President Obama said.,

“Look, it’s an all volunteer force,” Obama complained. “Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn’t compute..”

“I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country,” Obama continued. “I wasn’t asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I’d have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation’s deficit.. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans.”

Poltfact says this email of Obama quotes is actually a satire piece from humorist John Semmens that was lifted and converted into a viral email. A couple of versions of it are floating around in the viral email world seemingly targeted to veterans.

The poltifcact analysis here.

THE SILVER

Dan Kapanke

“Protesters caused $7.5 million in damage to the Wisconsin State House”

Originally thrown out as a a “some guy said” talking point and mindlessly telegraphed and replicated as an echo chamber between media outlets after the fight between protesters, the Wisconsin assembly and the Governor led to protesters squatting and protesting inside the state capital building.  Reports do say the protesters presence created some damage. But 7.% million I always considered a stretch and saw it as fake proof to paint the protesters as irresponsibly violent. Recently State Senator Dan Kapanke, used the talking point again in a email to seek contributions to his campaign.

Poltifact reports, Kapanke is right — minus $7.47 million. The state later paid $13,800 to historic preservation architect Charles Quagliana to assess the impact of weeks of protests on the Capitol and its grounds who then reported the damages resulted in $270,000 in wear and tear to the building

THE BROZNE

Nancy Pelosi

This is more spin than lie. But close.

The former Majority Leader claimed on CNN more private jobs were created last year than under Bush.

Factcheck.org says that’s true if you overlook that there were still 2,065,000 fewer private jobs in May than there were when Obama took office.  See the factcheck report here.
